World Book Day
I remember in school when they used to talk about the 3 R’s - reading, writing and arithmetic, and the importance of each, but only one has a day dedicated to it, and that is World Book Day.
Reading is a great form of escapism and entertainment. Books can transport you to another place, and others act as points of reference to help with education.
From childhood favourites to classic literature, reading has always been a passion of mine, although my busy schedule makes it hard to find time for this simple pleasure.
So, what's on your reading list? Here are a few of my favourites:
- Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl - a childhood classic that I read countless times
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - a true classic that I stumbled upon while on an Erasmus exchange in Valencia back in 1993
- Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh - a beautifully written masterpiece and one of the best English books ever
- Bred of Heaven by Jasper Rees - a captivating read by a family friend who embarked on a journey to discover his Welsh roots
