World Homeless Day 2023
Homelessness means different things to different people, and here in Jersey the 'hidden' elements and numbers affected are still not properly understood.
Yesterday was World Homeless Day and I worked as HomelessnessJersey 🇯🇪(please follow for more updates and pictures) alongside Boom to deliver an event in town at both West's Centre and Don Street to highlight different scenarios as to what constitutes homelessness. - It isn't just rough sleeping.
The day was a great success and brought together Causeway, JAYFJSY, Sanctuary Trust Jersey, The Shelter Trust Jersey and Jersey Women's Refugewho each helped 'man' the stands and speak to members of the public.
Andium Homes got involved as did other members from the Government of Jersey to talk about the Housing Advice Service, and we also had a visit from Housing Minister David Warr in the morning.
The island media were supportive and there have been a number of great reports circulating which we all really appreciate, spreading awareness and updates as to what has been achieved since the Strategy Document was published in November 2020.
